SONY DRU-500A and NERO!!??

i think the DRU-500A is as slow as a camel!!
it has had some reading problems too(some xbox back ups)
its build quality is crap compared to the A04(i suppose the A05 is even better) its cheap and clunky(when it opens and closes it reminds me of my $50 cd -rom)
i think my old AO4 was more reliable(well it was)
and the A05 is supposed to be even more reliable(some of my 2x burns on my sony, have trouble getting picked up with my xboxs laser) when i put it to 1x the problem goes ..my A04 never had this problem!!!
i might sell my DRU-500A and get a A05
caus i never use DVD+R/W , i dont know what i would ever need it for anyway!!! ITS ON THE WAY OUT!!! SONY including DVD-R format on there DVRs is a admition of that

this sony i got was hard to get,!!! are they hard to get in the states also????
i can tell you now!!! unless they last 20 discs of this 50 spindle are stuffed and i burn a coaster at 1x with this sony.
i will be selling this clunky heap of crap(if you look inside the tray ,i think it uses gears from slot cars!!!)
i never had a xbox back up problem at 2x with my A04 !!!
DRU-500A every other disc at 2x for xbox back up plays up!!! they still work most the time , but you have to try them 2 or 3 times or the just drop out when your playing sometimes!! at 2x on the sony anyway!!!

@Wedge.Problems with 55100 are mostly disappearing drives.Reverting to earlier versions correct this.DVD issues are mostly problems with Standalones reading the burnt dvd's.

i find if you put the media you r gonna record from in ,the drives disappear (or if the disc is all ready in there)
then you need to restart!!
but if you wait till says there is no cd or dvd to read from(or till it asks for the source media) you never have drives disappearing!!

Do you think that is your Sony's fault?Looks more as a software/system problem to me.........mine did never behave like that..DVD said:
I do not know your opinion about SONY DRU500A but my opinion is that it works SUPER everywhere GAMES all kinds MOVIES all kinds and All speeds!!!check your pc DVD or your SONY maybe something is fault!!
But Nero 55100 sure not work properly with SONY,new version works!
Because if i speak about A05 i have many bad things to say!!
the biggest problem that i had and also has now a friend of mine is the HEAT!!it become Hot very very easy and then it write the movie half!!
And i did not use the internal!

nah you on it!!! it happened with my A04(drives dissapering)
it dont happen now with nero 5510
it only used to happen when i used to copy ps2 originals anyway!!!
but i can tell you one thing my A04 was more reliable at high speeds then my sony dru-500a
i would swap for a brand new A05 anytime!!!(brand new!! there is a price differance!!)

i have both the external firewire/usb2 sony and the internal ide. i have used nero with both (v5.5.10.x) and have no probs with them. what firmware version r u using?? i flashed my up to 1.0g.
DVD, I have already offered you the option of bying you horrible, stinky, crappy, trashy, useless Sony burner. Why dont you reply? Please?
I would really bother you, but it seems that the only way to get the Sony nowadays is not via stores, but via s*c*e*r* which love their Pioneer coffee percolator.
(BTW I highly doubt if you have ever seen the Sony anywhere- put aside the movies.
