Real-world business app:
With nearly twice the capacity of standard discs, or about 8.5GB each, double-layer DVDs will no doubt be instantly christened the non plus ultra of digital storage for entertainment-media types. www.sony.com

Nice link... now we know that the first company to make dual layered blanks is Mitsubishi... (Verbatim is just a media stamper). I guess their price will be sky high at first, but I have hope...

Here's some news on dual layer burning from pioneer.
Pioneer has demonstrated dual layer burning during the CES, the technology exhibition in Las Vegas. The company succeeded recording to two layers DVD-R in October 2003 and now firstly publicly demonstrated the technology. In the booth of the RWPPI (RW Products Promotion Initiative) they wrote 100 MB to each layer. The discs were read back by a normal DVD player.
