Well last night i formatted my computer 3x
After installing Win2k SP3 my nero (5.5.6.4) would give me bad cds, like 1 in every 3. And the cds that were burnt without problems would not run.
I burnt "Ice Age" divx as a data cd with nero and everything went well, then i tried loading it and when i double clicked on the icon for the movie it would take ages to read and when it did read it came up with the error that Windows Media Player does not support the file format. So naturally i thought to myself that there must be an error with Ice Age. So i tested this by loading up the Ice Age on my HDD (the one i burnt) and that worked fine no errors at all. So i came to the conclusion that the copy burnt was screwed even though nero said it burnt sucessfully.
But 1 thing i realised was that nero worked fine when i had SP2 installed.
So i formatted and installed SP2 this time and installed nero. I then burnt Ice Age and it worked fine, this time it loaded up and played from the cd.
The cd that i previosly burnt of ice age on SP3 before formatting also worked this time.
OK so i came to the conclusion That Nero 5.5.6.4 (my prefered choice rather than 5.5.9.0) did not work with SP3!
Then i installed the new radeon drivers. All went well until i started loading Sound Forge 6.0A, the splash screen would just popup and then the system would freze and the only way of getting it out of that state was to press reset button.
Now i new the only changes i made to the system were the new radeon drivers so i formatted again and this time used the older drivers and sound forge worked without any problems.
So the conclusions ive come to are:
NERO gives bad cd's with win2k SP3
Sound Forge does not work with new Radeon drivers!
So now im using SP2 and the old radeon drivers.
If anyone else has similair problems or advice please post here.
