Setting up IIS webserver/ftp in XP

Greetings,

Does anyone have a guide or tutorial on how to set this up? With the webserver, can each user have a website like what should the filenames be and what directories? Also, is it the same with ftp as well? I noticed I can put files for downloading via ftp anonymously but when logging in with a user/password, the directory is just blank.

hopefully u would find this of some use.

Although you are free to do what you want, my unsolicited advice is for you to just use Apache2. It is much safer..

Thanks Shadey!

jojitb, I know Apache is safer since that's for my FreeBSD box on the LAN here.... But I just wanted to see how IIS works exactly since I've only used Apache for the last 9 years and the Unix ftpd as well as wuftpd.

Heh.... Now a question is for IIS, what are the names of the startup files? On Apache, it's index.html :) and for users, it's always ~username but how does IIS do it?

Have not used IIS for a long time but I think it is default.htm
You can always change it back to index.htm/html if you want.

As for the users, sorry I don't know :(
