Seatools for Seagate Hard Drives

How accurate is this tool ?

Cause I get this error:

Error: 0 x 12 , Ext Error : 0 x 00, Drive is defective

Told me to send bak the Hard Drive to retail shop for replacement...

Its reliability is close to 100%... the only chance of it being wrong is if your boot sector is infected by a virus- in that case it could report a defective drive even if it was basically healthy but capped by the MBR pest.
Since this is Windows app, and "something" may act up though, one way or another, you can repeat the test with just your UI (browser) open, and everything else (antivirus, firewall, tray utilities etc) shut down.

Had some troubles with a seagate 5. I used the bootfloppy version of seatools(both long and short test) it told me the drive was fine although it had several bad sectors. Sent the drive back to store and they concurred and sent me a new one. Suffice to say it didnt exactly leave me with a lot of confidence in its diagnostics abilities :)

Its a 'great' tool, first it will tell me I have no Seagate HDD installed, when I have tried one after another Barrucada, it will only test the drives if I choose non-Seagate drives.

Strange
