It must be a soft that can read big dat size. Th eon tha tI want to see is about 6 Mo.
Ifyou want info on really hidden microsoft files, there's good things in:

Hello I'm just about tu test with JASC.
Thanks lore, but I want to see how does windows organize this sort of files, I think it's very interesting. I've already downloaded this prog, for after :)

no...... :(

It doesn't work with Jasc...
I can open the file, but the format seems to be differents, I just see a lot of.. a lot of every character you can imagine...

When you have managed to have a look at them and then decide you want to get rid of the dat files, try Cyberscrub, you will have to re-start your machine after using it.
But it does wipe a lot of them, I don’t know if it does all of them?

Good Luck
:)

okay but..

Ok I've downloaded it, and installed it, but I don't know how to see what's in index.dat for example...
I've dragged and drop the file to the prog, but it only propose me to delete it.....

Viewing .dat files

This little utility will scan your entire hard drive for dat files and let you read what is inside.

Before you run it, click on the preferences button and check the scan entire drive. The default setting is to scan the windows directory. In older versions of Windows, the index.dat file was stored in the Windows folder.

Personally, I think the best software for clearing all the dat files on your computer is called Privacy Guard at h**p://www.mazepath.com/home.html
Check it out. There is a crack available if you search astalavista.

Good Luck.:) :D

Spider Utility

The utility mentiond in my previous post is called Spider.
Get it at h**p://www.fsm.nl/ward/

Before running it, click on the preferences button and check the box scan the entire hard drive. By default, only the windows directory will be scanned. If you enable show hidden files and folders, they will be scanned too.

I am attaching Spider.zip. It is freeware.
