I wonder if Aray scanner can tell you anything about the protection - but if it's only got to be compatible with proprietary hardware, the protection could be EXTREME - as it doesn't have the "work with most of a widespread user base" constraint that applies to PC and audio protections.
I used Data, then prot.game, then game, thenmulti/m which NEARLY Nearly worked..ie it did not finish writing readout at end of copy. The drive kept going until I rebooted.

After a false start (Nero) they seem to have had success with Alcohol - though the settings required are not given.
I assume that you do own the original, and are hoping (quite sensibly) to back it up as an insurance against loss or damage - or degrading from being in a warm car - though that is more likely to degrade CD-R than pressed CD.
