WHAT IS (SD2)SAFEDISC 2? (Simplified Explanation)
It is a new cd protection that uses a series of bad sectors as protection.These errors are invisible until a backup is attempted with a replicating software.They slow down the copying process when a copy is attempted and many people abort the copying process.The read returns to normal after the protected section of the cd is read.This is virtually the same as OLD Safedisc,EXCEPT there are "weak areas".These "weak" areas are not WRITTEN back properly by most writers.Since they are not WRITTEN properly more errors are encountered on the backup.That is why the backup will not work.
WHAT SOFTWARE WILL MAKE (SD2)SAFEDISC 2 BACKUPS?
The best results are obtained with Clone Cd.You will need a compatible writer.VOB Instantcd/dvd 6.0,Discjuggler,Blindread/write,Discdump,Cdrdao,are said to work with the PROPER HARDWARE ONLY.I would recommend Clone Cd.2831 or higher.
WHAT SETTINGS DO I USE FOR CLONE CD?
Just use fast error skip on the read options.Always close last session should be enabled on the write settings,THAT's IT.Use the writer to read and write.There is NO NEED to read subchannels!I would advise a read speed of 4x and a write speed of 4x for best results.BE PATIENT,the read will be slow on some writers.The read should return to normal after the protected area is finished.The Clone TIMER WILL RETURN TO NORMAL time remaining after the protected area is read.
