Run-time Error '6'.
Overflow

I get that message after ripping. I have used the program with 100% success up till now. What is up.

I'm running XP home with the newer 0.3.0 program. I have used the older 0.2.0 with no problems and also 0.3.0 till now. I have tried deleting the DVDStripper folder in the registry with no luck. Any ideas?

do the old versions still work now?

sometimes starting the old version and changing all the paths will then fix the newer version

Fairly new to all of this...using 0.3.0 and the first few rips were fine...then tried "A&C Meet Frankenstein" and getting the "run-time Error "6" just after DVDDecrypter finishes. Tried deleting the registry folder and re-run, downloaded the 0.3.0 .zip file (for any potential "silent" upgrades - .exe file is the same date, though), moved the "target", "processing" and "backup" folders to each of the 3 separate 40GB partitons on my 120GB drive, so there'd be plenty of room (about 26GB free on partitions for "target" and "backup")...still getting the same "run-time Error "6" message etc. Any clues?

Same with me , i am shocked .....

After reinstalling XP + Service pack1 on a new HD i get this with every DVD.
Strange thing is that not even the last version i paid for is working any longer.
Exactly after 99 % (finish of dvddecrypter) ther error occurs.
There isnt any difference between dvddecrypter .7 or the newer ...
Total desaster is that after the runtime error the hole ripping process is
disrupted and i have to start from scratch , and then its the same damnn error :(

i installed direct x 9 yesterday ...is that mabe the prob ?
do you others also have direct x 9 installed ?

Have DirectX on my "C:\" drive when I was using Win ME (have a dual boot set-up with Win XP Pro on my now, main root drive "D:\" - haven't used Win ME since getting Win XP Pro - changed all of the D:\drive partitons from FAT32 to NTFS anyway). Do not have DirectX installed under Win XP Pro (so that wouldn't appear to be the problem).

DVD Decrypter seems to be doing the rip OK (all the files are in the "temp" directory). But even when I moved those files over to a partition that had more free space...as soon as I redirected DVDStripper to point to that folder...the "Run-time Error "6" popped up again...strange how it never happen for the first rip or so, but now always...

the old version is not available as freeware

have you guys got it to work yet?

@lovebohn, you have the older 020 version also so did you try running that and seeing if it works?. If it does then start up 030 and specify the same paths and see what happens

p.s. welcome to the forums :)

same thing here

copied about 8 dvds..sopranos....and went to copy another soprano dvd yesterday and got this message upon completion of decrypting.

i tried removing from registry too but no good..i havent tried a different dvd yet; are you guys able to do other dvds or is this error occuring for every try. is there a work around for this b/c it seems that the files are in my temp folder but i dont know how to get them to show for the "next" stage where you can strip the things you dont want.

i think that there is another registry for the program somewhere in there though b/c i tried to do the adult hack and screwed it up and wound up picking the choice for "children" so there is no female splash screen...even with removing from registry (dvd stripper) and deleting the folders...upon reinstall the female never shows up

Some info that may help MX, TMG fix this..

OK... take 2.....
I was raped by the Runtime Error '6' Overflow error last night also right at the end of Decrypt; I see I'm not alone :( Afterward, I could not even open DS, it would immediately fail with said error. Have XPHome.

Deleted DS, blasted registry, reinstalled. Note I did not delete contents of \temp that was created. As I was setting up new DS, interesting thing happened....as soon as I pointed to previous \temp dir, I immediately got the error. Meaning, mouse button wasn't even all the way up when DS (figuratively) said "suck on this pal!". Once I deleted contents of \temp, DS was happy (until next failure, again @ end of Decrypt).

So it would seem to be content-related. Nothing unusual about my \temp (~7.3GB) except maybe there's 171 files in it. The last disc I DS'd (successfully mind you) had much less files but this disc has many titles/chapters/cells.

Do you think we're hitting some sort of limit? I hope this helps... Best of luck!

Ok Guys 'n' Girls,

i've tried to reproduce this error but i couldn't, so i will need your help on this!
I need a volunteer or two, who is willing to run a specially compiled version of DS that could give an idea on what is going wrong.

So if you are willing to run a few tests (aim account would be convenient for direct feedback) just contact me, as i will only have a few hours time this weekend!

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

I don't think there is a limit to the amount of files as I've seen a few DVD's with well over a 1000 but who knows :)

I've got no idea on this error to tell you the truth but I felt left out :)

p.s. isn't 'raping' a little harsh, lol :D

Sorry for the delay! Sure, I would totally be willing to run your debug DS and see what we get. I don't have AIM (and to be honest it always annoyed the sh!t out of me), so perhaps we could do this via email (you have mine, right?)
Danke :)

P.S. - MX, if you're reading, Hi and thanks for the greetz

I too had the same problem, before I could click on it, "runtime 6 error"
I do not use dvd decrypter at all. No idea what is causing this.???
I put everything on my hd and go from there. ??? Cleaned registry, files and the like, no luck.

OK, for the first time today I got the "Run-Time '6' Overflow" error, and now I'm beginning to think there might be a limit restraint on DS. The DVD I'm ripping is larger than most DVDs these days, and my \temp directory is approximately 7.3GB also, but, there's 500 files in there. I'm willing to bet it is content related

Note: DS works fine on my other (smaller) DVDs.

n.p.
as you might know i am pretty busy myself!
i will try to find some time to build a debug version and send it to you, weekend is pretty booked out already, but i guess i'll manage. I'm sure this will only be a small issue which we can iron out fast.
I will mail you a debug version asap!

TIA 4 ya help!

What I came up with, stripper worked fine on vob files that were less than 2gb, I tried a vob file that was 2.8gb, and keep getting the "runtime 6 error," by the way it was an authored file done with canopus mpegcraft. Don't know if this helps or not.

Sorry for not getting back on the forum. I seemed to have the problem when i had more than one title for the main movie. I would get error if i tried to use DVD shrink also.
