Roxio (Adaptec)

I have been reading the forum and am impressed with the knowledge base.
I have a problem:
It is not my computer so I'm not 100% certain on all the specifics.
It's a gateway about three years old. 4x Mitsushitu burner and a generic cd-rom. It came with adaptec software. Had all kinds of troubles (who couldn't see that one coming) I got them up to ezcd cremator 5 plat. It seemed to help out alot. (It was really bad before). Now it is acting up 1 out of 3 discs is a coaster. My question is-- what sofware would most likely work on gateway that is mostly generic parts. I Know nero would be the best but, it has to be failry on the simple side. Only a few clicks to copy a disk. Most of the software I have been reading about has all the top line burners but no mention of older "generic" models. The owners are older and not very computer savvy.
Thank You for reading this.
Any help to steer me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.

Well if they are used to Adaptec software, then I would think switching to Nero or NTI CD maker would be an easy transition for them. Both have their own types of wizards also.
Unless someone else can suggest a better/easier CD mastering sweet, those are probably their best bet.
Although I can't say for sure that either of these will support their CDRW, it can't hurt to try, that is, they won't mess the computer up any more than Adaptec can lol (easy to uninstall also).
Hope that helps.

:D

Thank You very much my original hunch was to go with nero but I have visited the nti site. I will take a copy of each and see which one works the best. Might make a couple of coasters so I will use the cheapos to test burn.

Thank You very much!!
I am very grateful

I have tried Nero 5.5.7.8, WinOnCd 5.0, Easy CD Creator 5 platinum and NTI 5.0 Plus edition.
I compared outputs and got NTI with best results........:)

NTI CD error

I just d/l NTI CD (v5.1.3) from w*w.cdsoft.cc but when I try to to run it I'm told:

"WmaCodec.dll" could not be located. I assume this is part of MS Media (or similar). Can anyone gissus a clue?

thx

BTW: O/S W2K Pro, SP2

sort of..

the original error (3 posts ago) was solved until I rebuilt my PC this morning coz it was running slower than a 286 with 1Mb of RAM!

Reinstalled NTI and I now receive an error that "WMVCore.dll" is missing.

WTF is it with this app? Anyone know where I can get a copy that works properly or a better alternative CDR app?

thx,

OB

nti alternative

go here for program--main site
h**p://download.ntius.com/trials/

will your serial still work?? not sure on that one

Looks like its back to Nero

the good news is the "trial" version of NTI CD Maker actually works. The bad news is I can't find out how to make it a full version - bloody s/w companies making it hard to crack this stuff :)

OB

Bud,forget all this shit, and look for nti which is not by paradox..""Cannot find"""-use something else.Btw take a look at cdrsoft download page,it was some talk that valid version will be there soon:)

It turns out the error was called because the cracked version (508) and the update used different WS Media files. If you run the WMF*.exe in the update file it cures the problem or install Windwos Media Player 7.1

Geez, what an ordeal to get bloody sw working.
