ripping dvds?

is it illigal to coppy a dvd which you have brought from a shop and to use for your home use? i have a dvd player down and up stairs, i wanted to rip monsters inc for my daughter, to stop taking movies up and down satirs (im lazy lol) :D , if not, how do i do it? i have amost of the programes needed so fire away!!

As far as I know its illegal to do that in most countries, and commercial movies on dvd have warnings to that effect. The head of the MPAA has more or less said that if you want to backup your legitimately bought dvd you simply buy another copy to be your backup copy. Consumers don't fall for that idiocy, that is why dvd writers and blank media were invented, and Dvddecrypter to start using them :)
