Removing Old Versions Of Zone Alarm ?

Hello Folks,

I was wondering if there is a Zone Alarm RegCleaner available similar to the CloneCd RegCleaner that will clean remnants of Zone Alarm from the registry?

I previously installed Zone Alarm Pro v3.0.081 and have made two attempts to install Zone Alarm Pro v3.0.2.6 but each time I do I end up with v3.0.081 still installed.

Anyone aware of how to completely uninstall a previous version of Zone Alarm Pro from the registry so a can make a clean install of version v3.0.2.6?

Thanks for any assistance rendered.

i think i can help with this.

If you go to the zonealarm site you'll find a help area that tells you how to clean the registry & dll's from your system.

That said, i thought that the newer versions ie. zone alarm 3 etc automatically cleaned the registry & dll's. i know that some older versions didn't.

i do know that even when you clean the registry per their instructioins, this still doesn't clear the last registration serial number you used, thus some reg entries are not removed. however, a new serial can be re-entered into the program.

Hi M8.
Well i will try and help here.
1. goto start menu and select RUN
2. type in regedit and then goto
3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\
4. In this software list you will find something like zonealarm - Just DELETE it by right click and delete.
5. go back to main regedit menu screen
6. select - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\
7. find zonealarm in software menu and delete this also.

And that should be about it. Of course do not forget to go into your Program Files on your Hard drive and delete the folder Zonealarm.

Hope its not too confusing.

ZoneAlarm uninstall

I agree with Brokenback. The zonealarm website has a support section that details how to do a clean uninstall of the Pro version. Make sure nothing is running such as True vector etc. and then use the add- remove utility. Some traces remain in the computer. The zonealarm website list these 'unwanted leftover dlls' and simply use the 'search' from your windows explorer to remove these dll's one by one. Finally remove the three keys that are left over in the registry (use the regcleaner software to do this if you are not comfortable with using the regedit), and you can install a new version with no problems. I have tried this on three different ocassions and it has worked fine for me.
