RecordNow Max - Problem: cannot burn DVD(+R)

I'm using:
- WinXP Pro SP1
- (STOMP) RecordNow Max 4.5
- NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A
(other burn appz: Nero 5.5.10.42, CopyToDVD)

Untill now I have always succesfully burnt DVD+R with RecordNow Max which I prefer above Nero. Now I have a problem. Hope an other user of RecordNow Max (Poacher, Blane) and others of course can help me out.

Today I ript a DVD (Home Alone 3) using the method: DVDDecrypter (movie only) > DVDShrink. Decryption and decompression worked well.
So I started RecordNow Max:
- added directories (AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS)
- named volume label (HOME_ALONE_3)
- set the options (close DVD)
- Press Burn
- And then I received the error message:

Data Job Untitled1 Terminated with errors

Don't know what this message means. Couldnot find it in HELP.

I tried:
- burning with Nero wich was succesfull, however could not play DVD in my JVC standalone player !! (maybe wrong settings)
- using other DVD+R brands (DataWrite, DataTrack, That's Write), got no luck, I don't think it's a media issue

Possible explanations:
- could it be because I recently update Nero to 5.5.10.42?

RecordNowmax has a "show log" option under the "view" menu. Next time you have such a problem open the log and attach it here, because it's almost impossible to guess the nature of your problem by the provided info.

It becomes clear to me that there is something with my VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories. Now I have to figure out what exactly the problem is.

When I ripped the original DVD, I selected movie only. The ripped movie was < 4.7 GB so I could easily burn it without using DVDShrink.
However I used DVDShrink to compress the menu.
I'm gonna rip the original movie again. Then burn directly without decompressing first. Let see what the result will be.

It's rather clear now... fire up RecordNow, press F3 (global options), jump to "data disc" and there tick in "recognise the videoTS blah...blah..." box.
Should be OK now, or not?

You cant just rip the DVD movie only to your HD and if under 4.37gig then burn to a DVDR. There are files missing as the ripping process only gives you the movie VOB files and the IFO file. No BUP or VIDEO_TS.IFO file You need to run IFOEdit to generat new IFO files before burning. Check out the guides at http://www.ifoedit.com/

Yes, I managed to succesfully burn the files on DVD+R.

Why it didn't work at first?
I made a very stupid mistake. I didn't check the dvd files structure so that I didn't see that some files were missing e.g. video_ts.ifo.
Although I used DVDShrink to compress the movie only files I used FULL DISK instead of Re-author so I didn't video_ts.info weren't created.
The error that RecordNow Max gave pointed in the direction of missing files when I tried to burn the files as a DVD. It's clear to me that Nero doesn't do such a check. That's why I prefer RecordNow Max instead of Nero. Maybe Nero 6 will be "the bomb" but lets wait and'see.

Nero 6 will surely be "the bomb" although it's not clear when/where it will blast...
As far as I'm concerned, RecordNow is coasterproof and idiotproof, and i DO need an idiotproof app!
