Recording Interface

I just have a normal soundcard that came with my Compaq. I want to record off of my turntable or cassette deck, but I don't want to drag my amplifier into the room just to have something to boost the signal. I saw a nifty thing a while ago that would do the trick, but the makers wanted $100 for it. No way! Isn't there a simpler/cheaper pre-amp or something that will give my line signal the boost that it needs to make a good recording just going through the mini-plug inputs on my card? Any suggestions?

For the price of the project $70 you also can buy a DJ mixer from Behringer and besides solving your problem would add chanels to your input ( although it would be in a mixed format )
