Questions and concerns about DVDStripper

True enough about free time on my hands... LOL... :) :)

What I really meant to mean about removing audio streams, was, that if the final output size was larger than a dvd-r... Then the audio removable option would be good...

Even though I have some movies that will fit on dvd-r with all audio present, I like to make bare bones dvds (don't have to worry about selecting the right audio track), i like to remove ALL things that I don't need... Call me crazy.. :D

-thanx again for all thie suggestions..

@muad'dib13,

1. pressing TITLE/MENU should get you to the main menu
2. you say you selected items you took out, does this include menu's?. If you remove a still menu then it will appear to hang as it's waiting for user input. You can again press MENU/TITLE to get you back to a menu you can 'see'
3. that's exactly what happens, you get a flash of the extra you removed. The extra you left in must be accessed from somewhere else. It was accessed via that menu then you would see the black flash and then the extra you left in
4. do the buttons work on the original? as some parts of a DVD do not have button commands at all and you are forced to watch them
(try using Fast Forward as this is sometimes the only button that works ;))

this is the first release and most of what you ask is possible and is already noted, the only question is how do we automate it? but I'm sure we will work something out :)

if you already have Menuedit you can use it to disable buttons in the meantime like others are doing as the two work great together

cheers ;)

Thanx much for the quick responce.. :) :)

As for what I did:

Some of the menus were indeed still menus... So that explains my problems with frozen back screens...

As for my problem #3.... I know for a fact that I left that extra in.... The menu for it is there, but when I select that button (for that extra), screen goes black then kicks back to menu....
I confirmed that it is a problem. With Dvdshrink... I loaded the same movie in that, and made all the extras I did not want a stills, then left in the extra (the one I had problems with) intact... When I loaded the final product, I selected the same link in the menu, and the extra played...

Weird...

Not sure what I did wrong....

I am very glad to hear that you may be making a interface like shrinks for selection process... cool ..... :)

Thanx for the info about MENUEDIT,,, I will check that out..

Keep up the awesome work.... You really did make a program I am proud to own... :) :)

Thanx again...

I'm sure you directed that at both of us but I do hope others don't forget I'm not the only one in this project as The Mad Guy deserves just as much praise (flaming, lol ;)) as I do

I'm just the one who's showing a public face (taking the crap just as much as praise lol :)), as I have TMG tied up in the back room busy finalizing DVDStripper 0.1.1 so we can release it ASAP :). Has everyone seen the ABOUT in DVDStripper?

without him this program wouldn't even exist and he has also contributed more than just the programming side of things

cheers TMG :D

The Thanx I give, is definately to both of you... :) :) :)

Please let me rephrase,,,,, YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST, and RULE!!!  :)

Thanx again for an awesome program....

Well I tried the movie "28 days later" region 1 again,, to see if some of my previous problems would still surface... and Yep,, still have only 1 issue....

When taking out extras, etc, and leaving only a few things left, everything seemed to work except 1 thing..

The problem is: I made sure I left the "making of the movie" and that menu that links to it... When I play the final movie, and select that link, nothing happens... It just (in a flash), jumps back to the menu page...

Soooo...

I started to play each VOB file in the final product (made with dvdstripper) to see if I could find that EXTRA I know I left in..Sure enough I found the EXTRA... It's there buried in a vob file (vts_04_01.vob)..
What I noticed was, when playing this vob file, there was a trailer first, then the "making of the film followed" in the same vob... When I created this final product, I also made sure that trailer was left also... In the menu, I can play the trailer no prob, and when it's done, goes back to menu like it's suppose to.. But the actual vob has both trailer and the extra I want on it..

Not sure if this is a dvdstripper problem, or just the way the dvd was linked...

Has anyone come across this dvd and had that problem, or any other dvd that did this??

Please help...
