ps2 vcd=pss?

VCD MINI DVD and SVCD on PS2

Yeah a PSS file is just an MPEG2 video stream (like a SVCD video stream) but the audio part is different. It is a SPU file encoded file created from a 48kHz WAV file.

If you have a SVCD, demux it to get separate audio/video streams - use winamp or something to convert the audio stream to a 48kHz WAV (with the disk writer output plugin) then use another app to convert the audio stream to an SPU file and join the video and audio together again and violla: one pss file.

I doubt you'll fit a whole SVCD onto a PS2 disk though as I had trouble with the Steve-O video. I had to downsample the video stream so it would fit. And the audio/video were quite out of sync towards the end (by a second or two).

It is still pretty early days in the PS2 VCD days but it's getting there!

Hope this helps
