Im very new to this. i have experience making copies for my PS1 but i just got the DS3 Mod Chip but i do not have a DVD-R Burner...so i was wondering if you could make a backup of a PS2 game to a CD-R ? i heard all PS2 games are on DVD's so im wondering how you could downsize the filesize to fit on CD-R so it'll still stay like it was on a DVD ?

thank you,
pat

p.s.
i did an extensive search!

hi no0dlemice welcome to the forum :)

Yes, it is possible to backup a DVD based game to CD-R

The process involves "ripping" out various parts of the game, down to a CD-R based size (<650MB)

You can either try this yourself (not recommended) or get a pre-built "rip kit" from my buddy Alucard's site PS2Modz Paradise

Follow the "readme.txt" document normally supplied within the zip.

I hope that this gets you started, post back if you have any further questions :)

Not all ps2 games are DVD. There are also many CD games. For example NBA Street, Harry Potter, Tekken etc....... you can burn these CD games with a CD burner.

CD games usually have a dark dye (black, blue,) Or you can check the front of the game. It'll either say CD rom or DVD rom.
