Problems with sending file attachments on forums

I'm having a problem sending file attachments on the forums. It seems that while the maximum file attachment size says 20megs, whenever I attach a 10 meg file to the forum, IE6 will give the 404 error of page not found after a minute or so. If I did files 3 megs or smaller, haven't tried between 3-10 megs yet, it will work fine. This happens on both the old and new server. N.B., what OS is the forums and the main site actually on? I know it's either Linux or *BSD :)

You are lucky Almighty, I can't even attach a file smaller than a 1M. This has been so for more than a couple of months. I hope this problem is solved, at least for some of us :( .

Yeah, and I guess the problem you have is a security option :)
The php.ini consists one value:
max execution time.
So if a script starts looping, shitty coding or whatever, maybe a attack the process is killed it if is active longer then 20 seconds.
So if you need more then 20 secs to upload the file, the process is killed, and the Error404 pages comes up, bcz PHP doesn´t send any output to the client ...

so, yeah ...

Are you sure it's 20 seconds because file attachments that take over 200 seconds works fine. It's just those that are larger, it will automatically give the 404 after about 60 seconds or so.

Hmmz, that is pretty strange ....
I will talk to Jelsoft, they coded this forum ..
They surely have more experience with troubles like this :)

hummmmmmmmm i think i fell asleep somewhere on this forum i should read more carefully !? as regards to attachments !? ive been trying to stick with stuff less than 3meg and now i realise it can be upto 20 meg doh !! not that i would really post a 20 meg file but its nice to know that i could of gone over by a few k here and there doh !! lmao i must get this bits and bytes and megs etc calculated properly lol !!!
