Problems with Liteon 16 x HELP !!!!!!!!

Hi Boys and Girls

I`m hoping that some one help me with a problem i`v got relating to my Liteon 16x burner i think.Ive had this liteon 16x cdrw for 8 months now with the same problem occuring on off and on now for some reason the draw keeps opening and closing when my comp starts and shutsdowns and when i finish a burn the draw sometimes will not open unless i re-boot my PC.I have read on another forum some where that this is caused by the mobo im using which is a abit kg7 raid.Apparantly this board draws so much power the Liteon cdrw isnt getting enough power so the recomended solution was a BIGGER power supply and since i had a 350w psu i went and bought a 400w just to be on the safe side.Now every thing was fine until today it's all started again for some reason so im not impressed all i have done is added a NEW 120gig Hard Drive to my system so now i have 2 drives a 20 and a 120 gig.Any help with this Boomarang problem the one that keeps cummin back would be greatly appreciated....

kenbitt please check the power cable to the hd not used with other device or splitted to other power cable!
Can you do this also with the recorder?

make some test and please post here again

Hmm...yes I've heard of this problem too.I think,but not sure Liteon released a firmware upgrade for this problem.Try a search with Google,it should come up with something useful.;)

Thanx guys for the replys...

I have searched google for a firmware upgrade but there is not one available and i have tried the power cable solution with the same results.Sorry guys but i think it has to be the CDRw it must need more power what do you think ????? any more ideas ????

I just did a Google search.Liteon tray problems.

Other problems with LiteOn drives, such as random ejects, are usually due to an insufficient power supply. Upgrade to at least 350W! Note however that LiteOnIt have released a firmware update 5S57 with the following description: "Solve the issue that part of CD-RW drives will always tray-eject after power on the PC with certain brands of motherboards due to its power supply is not 0 volt when power-off"

you should be able to get latest firmware from there. Otherwise just do a search for liteon 5S57 firmware woody mentioned.
Hopefully one of them will solve your issues.

5S57 is the firmware for the 24x litey have a look here for all firmware h**p://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/
lots of litey 16x firmware here
