problems with a mobo

just built a budget system for my neighbour but run into a snag with the mobo....
M870 SKT754 800FSB DDR400 8xAGP USB2.0 (pc chips)
sempron 2800 64 bit pro
1 gig of viking ram
256 radeon 9550 graphics card
segate 80 gig hard drive

the problem is it should have 6 channel sound ive installed all drivers that came with mobo and graphics card.But i cant get any sound..
when i check it say not installed.If i try to install the drivers it cant detect sound hardware......

please help before i send the board back to ebuyer......

Is the onboard chip enabled in system BIOS? If it is, and still no sound, it's time for an RMA...

The default for most mobos is everything onboard ON, excluding the soundchip, which is by default OFF (don't ask me why... I am not a mobo maker!). So, my Q was the most natural thing to say...
