The Liteon might need a firmware upgrade,or does not like the brand of dvd-r.I assume you want to use the Liteon to create the images instead of the Pioneer..On the fly is a bad idea too..Copy to the hard drive first.

Safest way to burn ps2 games is to make an image first then burn that.My Liteon reads ps2 games like that just fine.Dont use Nero to do it though use Discjuggler or RecordNow Max.
