Port Scans

I really get peeved off when I get get continual port scans!I had close to 150 scans in a 2 day period from one IP.I traced it back, and sent an email to the ISP,and it did stop.So that is an option for some of you.

I have also resorted to placing IP's in my restricted zone.

Just venting off a bit!;)

Sometimes your ISP try to check if you run webservers ..
FTP, HTTP and so on, since that is usually illegal with a normal private account ..
so maybe the proxy pings you in order to check if you run any www service that isn´t allowed ...

Hmmz, yeah ..
The ISPs try to fuck around, but as Poko and Master do:
There are some ways to block those bastards :p

On mine, it's on previously used ports - would seem to be remote connections that just don't want to let go, so it comes back through the proxy server.

My firewall blocks them just fine(port scans).I place the 'nuisance' ones that show in my alert text file frequently into my restricted zone.I will trace, and email the ISP of problem IP's.

Like N.B. stated your ISP will continually scan for restricted functions. You can ignore it if you have a good firewall.
