popup problem on desktop

i keep getting loads of popups on the desktop when ie isnt running.anything need turning of in ie options.

Probably need to turn of MESSENGER. It's a service that is set to automatically load with Windows by default. Go to Admin Tools>Services and scroll down to messenger, right click and chose properties. Startup type to disabled.

Sounds to me like you have some "SpyWare" loaded and running in the background.

A good program that gets rid of this problem is SpyBot.
