Thats wierd, my 24x plex has been fine with any media I've used in it on all the firmware version including 1.04 hmm..

Has your plex 24 have a fan in the back next to the ide connector and master/slave pins???

Yep it's working fine for me too....
Maybe it's not firmware's fault..Try cleaning your cdr's optical ....

pokopiko the fan was not included in the first release of the 24 speed plex, but was added dude to certain drives overheating.

becuase when I first bought mine, it didn't have a fan in the back, and I had problems with it, becuase it would not burn using clone cd over 12 speed, if I trued to use 16x, 20x, or 24x it would make a coaster, so I contacted plextor they said it was faulty, and they sent a new drive, and the new one it did have a fan in the back and also a newer manufacture date than the original and a different TLA No.

so maybe if your having probs its due to heat probs associated with the first release of the drive???

I do know for a fact that the early drives had a problem with heat build-up wich was reducing the life of the drives, so they fitted the cooling fan in the rear.

Poko I haven't tryed to write cdrs that their free space didn't go over 697 MB (80min) because I think that bigger cdrs eg 90 won't be readable on all devices ...
