Just my opinion, But why would anyone want to buy expensive 4x media for a burner that only burns at 2x? Unneeded download!

the 1.40 fw 2xall
has great improvement

dvd-r dont freeze neer the end of the disc's
better 2x burning

isnt that enough?
But that's not the "Official" Firmware upgrade is it? I'm using the 1.20 2x 4 all and never have had a problem with any media or freezing at the end of a movie...so I'll stay with this one till I have a problem.

ok

try burn at 2x movies over 3.8 gig then look at
outter rim of disc , burn at least 5 then yourll know what i mean

official 1.40 just as good
but only lets you burn ritec disc's at 1x

Guys it not always the firmware thats at fault. Sometimes it's the media and/or burning apps and the use of it which is the problem.

ummmmmmmm

soundforbjt

what disc's did you burn @ 2x
and how much did you pay for them

i bet there the more expensive one's

i use dvd master gen 4 95p one's

if you burn these at 2x with any fw except 1.40
you get the errors (not at 1x)

Faster seek?

Drives reacts a bit better identifying a DVD-R with stuff on it.

Are Pioneer really going to let go and allow user choice for 2x?

I've been using real cheap media....Accu silver\purple 1x @ .58 cents each.....1x Riteks @.85 cents each and "fake" tdk's at .71 cents each. I'm in U.S. In fact the Accu's from meritline.com have worked better than the fake tdk's.

ha

soundforbjt

you use the media mentioned above
and burn @2x with no problems at all
with fw 1.20

you must be the only one on the planet

pioneer even admit the problems

1.20 2x 4all

Yeah, I guess I got a great drive! But I swear it's all true. I'll try to take some screenshots on my next burns to send you.

ok

i have pioneer 104
my brother has pioneer 104
and a friend has pioneer 104

we all use ritek disc's

we all had trouble when burning @2x
when burning over 4 gig

perfect every time @1x

pioneer admits its a firmware problem

im happy the guy got his pioneer fixed
but i bet if he burns 10 dvd's over 4gig @2x
he we have a few messed up disc's

he doesnt say what type of rings he was getting

he will still have trouble burning over 4gig @2x
on both his drives

give this a try and yourll find out for sure
use ritec
burn the getaway (ps2) @2x
look close towards the end of the disc
the burn mark will fade near the end

dont forget to try a few

(its a firmware trouble which pioneer are trying to solve)

pioneer waste of money

my friend steve just bought pioneer a05

tried bulk palk gen4 2x
burned @2x

guess what burn mark fades towards end of the disc (what a surprise)
pioneer should really investigate this problem

I nearly always burn over 4 gig.I have burned at 4 x and 2x with my pioneer 105 with no problems.
I have not heard from any of my friends having any problems at 2x either.
The bulkpaq gen 4 are not recommended for the 105 with latest firmware. I think they only burn at 1x with it.
I had rings once, at 1x and 2x and it was down to a bad batch of media. I got some more and they worked great.
There is a lot of crappy media out there and even with decent ones the quality control is nonm existent!
