My computer (a sony vaio PCV-RX682 running windows XP), won't recognize my dvd-r/rw drive as what it is, only has a cd-r drive. Anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Alex

What matters is how your burning programs see it. XP plays with you sometimes and I don't know why. :D I just put a G04 in my DD0401 and XP tells me its now a CD Drive but I can burn without a problem. So are you having a problem burning?

i'll have to assume that u haven't actually tried using the drive yet. this is common windows behavior.

Thanks, yes, I have tried to burn and it tells me that there is only some odd megabytes avalible. Like a cd's worth once I try to burn. When I add them in however, it counts down from 4.7 gigs so I'm confused.

Hey there guy... also if you have more than 1 ROM make sure that your jumper is set right, one of them would have to be a master and the other one has to be a slave.

Just my .02 cents
