PIioneer 104

I have a pioneer 104 brand new just out the box, I installed primo dvd 2 and tried to backup a ps2 game, everything looked like it went ok but when I tried it in the ps2 using proper boot sequence it wouldn't play at all. So I tried nero but still the same. The thing I find strange is I can't even read it int the pc. ?

Hope someone can help.

Cheers

wild

ps I'm using vivistar dvdr's

ok so you can definately play other copied dvd's, just having trouble with the ones you are copying yourself?

john

when you copy using neri, do you use copy dvd option and not compile a new dvd option.

i have save writer as you and also a chipped ps2 (messiah). Only had 1 problem in the past and that was with the type of dvdr i was copying to. I use bulkpaq ones now and have never had a problem.

john

they are totally unbranded, just plain silver. I got 100 when i ordered my 104, have also had problems playing them in my dvd player as well.

i 2 have a ao4 and i have backed up about 3 dvd games on branded datasafe generation 3 and none work i have a ps2 with an ar2 on it the console is chipped but no games work but primo will let me backup ripped ps2 games on cdrand they work any ideas as i fed up of costeing dvds

from my experience i use bulkpaq dvdr discs and use nero to copy the dvd ps2 disks. Only game i have had a problem is is MGS2 UK version which for some reason connot be copied dont ask me why, but the american version i have a copy for and can copy. Only advice i can give is use nero, make sure you dont do anything else on the pc while the disks are copying, this can cause problems when writing and will just give you som expensive coasters.

Hey guys

@johnna i hate to be the bearer of BAD new but bulkpaqe are CRAP with a capital "C" the new gen 3 datasafeand princo do not work either.I have a PS2 with a messiah chip in it i also have a Pioneer 104 ..... thus far i have tried VOB did not work very well,Nero 5.5.9.0 read errors left right and centre ... the best i have found are Primo DVD v2/RecordNow Max v4.0 and Discjuggler v 4.01.980 Pro 2 they ALL work very very well copying PS2 games with good DVD-r media. As far as media go Verbs are very good but expensive @ £4 a shot but i have tried using White Label DVD-r Gold Edition ( funny since they have a green top :) ) £35 for 25 @ the computer fair has to be a bargain. Thus far i have used 20 and had no coasters ALL have worked as good as the originals evem MGS2 the UK version as this is copiable i should know i have made 4 working copies to date off my original.Remember to read to you Hard Disc first the Burn @ 1x and all should be well and that the PS2 is fussy when it comes to CDr media and even fussier when it comes to DVD-r ...... Hope this helps

Ken

Ps i have attached a scan of the new White Label DVD-r`s keep an eye out for them

Pps use datasafe CDr media for Ripped games they are quality and cheap

well i guess its like most things what works good on one doesnt work good on the next. Just ordered myself another 100 bulkpaq ones. I know cheap isnt always best but it this case for me and my mates who also have dvd writers the bulkpaq seems to be the best. Only thing i would suggest to anyone is to buy a couple of recommended ones and c how they work.

Hey john and all

I would agree with buying just 1 or 2 to try out of different brands of DVD-r media till you get one your PS2 like ..... i`v heard of ppl getting loads of joy with princo and datasafe gen 2 ( blue top ) but no joy at all on my PS2.Cheers john

u have 2 problems here

the reason that bulkcrap work for some people and not
other is this. Bulkcrap do not make dvd-r media, they buy
the end of lines and rejects made by any company who has
them to sell and sticks a bulkcrap brand on them. No 2
people r ever gauranteed to have the same make of dvd-r.

You cannot boot dvd-r using an action reply v2 with a boot
disk version number higher than 2.02. Those on sale now
are either v2.10 or v2.12 and cannot boot dvd-r. (thank sony
for that change)

If you don't know what boot disk version u have, look on
the underside of the boot disk, in the center written on
the shiny blue ring is the version number!

You can boot backups with these versions of action replay just a slightly different boot method I've booted all my dvd backups with v2.12, but having trouble with the ones I've done myself.
