pc restarts on its own

hi, i got a problem with my pc. its using an asus motherboard A7-133C . it restarts on its own and i check the event viewer it gives me this

try differ memory sticks ... they major cause of reboots ... if got 2 x sticks in PC .. remove one ..try for week if all oks ..then was other stick removed was prob ... if get probs with one stick then that the prob ...

Maybe somebody with knowledge on this will respond eventually. In the meantime, I would post here under the Linux, Windows Related Problems section.

Also, have you tried Windows 2000 Newsgroups?

I had a similar problem too back when; the computer restartig by itself when u have bsod (blue screen of death); u can uncheck that restarting feature by going to the desk top and
1/rightclick on my computer icon
2/ choose "properties"
3/ choose "advanced"
4/ choose "startup and recovery"
5/ uncheck the option to restart when there's an error.

I dont know you have the same problem i did , but in my case, i had windows 2000 sp2 and ms office xp; and when i upgraded to windows 2000 sp3, it caused some kind of conflicts, so i went and upgraded the ms office xp on the microsoft site; and that made the problem go away.

From what i can see from your memory dumps this is clearly something in your multimedia system. I can see that you have a crystal audio based sound card. But I have some questions.

1. What video card do you have?
2. What version of directX are you running?
3. do you play alot of games?

When does it restart? Just like that?

I had the same problem ( and so did others) when I installed my new Pioneer A05 DVD burner and was missing ASPI layer or had a bad one. I tried using DVDxCOPY and it just restarted on its own. When I uninstalled DVDxCopy and installed new ASPI layers (ForceASPI1.7) everything went back to normal.
Trying figuring out what is the sequence that makes it restart.

I had a simialr problem and it looks like I had a bad memory stick. I found that out by running this memory testing program that is really good freeware BTW.

I downloaded the iso and booted to that from CD-R. It runs 7 tests. Mine always crashed on the 5th test. Either individual stick will pass all tests by itself, but in combination they fail.

Are you running PCanywhere on startup? I can see some of its TAPI drivers active in your dump file. The device that causes the failure is MS audio mixer, which tries to read an adress reserved by another app (and not shared), most probably PCanywahere. You may have to disable PCanywhere, or update it. Or is it another Symantec app?
And of course it can also be an unlucky mixture of your soundcard drivers and the PCAny ones. The BSOD comes when a certain sound event is just about to happen.

I have to mention this since it is the only answer I know of.....If you have Adaptec EC Creator 5.x installed without its updates then this problem will occur.

No, he does not have any Creator traces in his dumpfile. Else it could explain much.

yes i got pcanywhere in my program folder
but i dont have it in my startup folder..
if what u said is true how can i rectify the problem?
i am using pcanywhere 10.5
