Opinions on Acer Laptops

I've been looking at buying a laptop and have narrowed my choices down

The main contender at this time is the Acer TravelMate 803LMib

Has anyone got any good/bad reports before I spend a wad of cash ?

Opinions will variy, and this Board may host a horde of rabid Acer users.

. . . But my old firm sold some of our clients cheap P4 Acer laptops and I got called in on their technical problems. I was never particularly impressed with their build quality. I know that the sturdiness of the keyboard and frame are one of the main things I look for in a laptop. Have you looked at the Compaq N6xx series: many are discounted and all are built for 'corporate' grade users. Heavy chassis, good keyboards.
