One problem I see is the version of TMPGEnc included is the 30day demo version and will die in 30days. So yes I would suggest using your "already installed" copy of TMPGenc.
Of course. :D

The one thing I don't like about the prog is......you cannot get so far and stop and say encode it the next day from within the prog, everything has to be done in one step. After e-mailing the author though, he said that from the next version onwards he plans to change this so that you can save your work after each seperate stage.

The guy has got a real winner here IMHO. :)

New version 1.10 out now incorporating later (and free} program versions ...

And with XVCD support...Can someone explain the aspects of this?

Thanks Guys

As explained in an email from the Author

Just wanted to let you know that I've got a new version of Eazy VCD up on the website now. (_http://www.eazyvcd.tk)

This version has suport for XVCD so now you can squeaze your movies onto one disc or put them on two disc's with beter encodeing quality.

Hey CM,

I've just installed the new version 1.10 and it's been entitled "The Chicken edition", a chickens head features at the top left of the GUI too. Anything to do with you? LOL :D

Must admit I've got some friends to test it on Win 98 systems to see what they thought and had a few e-mails back with them getting a lot of run-time errors etc. The author did say over at vcdhelp.com forums that he has no real time to test it on Win 98/Me as he is building it on an XP system.

But hey what do I care, I use W2K & XP anyway. :D

I've done a number of short encodes but only one full DVD encode. Results/quality are equal to my DVD2AVI/TMPGenc method. There have also been a number of posts else where saying the program crashes with a few DVD's as TMPGenc starts. But that needs to be confirmed.

Its still early days and I'm sure the author will improve and fix these problems. But like every program/guide, if it works on 90% of DVD's then all is well, there will always be a few problem DVD's that will require some TLC to convert them with no problems.

v. 1.10 works flawlessly for me on my win98se system. :D
Haven't had any problems at all with this great new program and I know absolutely squat about dvd ripping and mpeg encoding. The point though is that with this proggy you don't need to. Just toss the dvd in the drive, wait while vstrip identifies the longest (movie) file and then just click a button. What could be simpler? ;)

I have downloaded and tested DVD2SVCD and Vidomi, I read ChickenMans tutorials, and I have to agree with Chicken Man, about the quality of the riped-convered movies.
But I also try this way:
DVD to VCD:
DVDXv2.0 and Panasonic mpeg1 Encoder. Just load your DVD on DVDX and at output settings choose the Panasonic mpeg1 plug-in. This will give you best quality in short time!
DVD to AVI (DivX):
Vidomi as Chicken Man suggests (but is too slow for me) so I use DVDX and at Export settings I change the resolution to 720x576 and on video codec settings: DivX Pro 5.02 codec with Encoding bit rate 1200 kbps and more.
DVD to SVCD:
CinemaCraftEncoder v2.62

Does anyone knows how can i use the CCE plugin with DVDX?

Thanks philamber for your results on Win98, I'm on Win2000 so could never test on Win98 (no I dont want to re-format!).

@denexo, you say you use DVDx with Panasonic Encoder for fast quality results. The Pana encoder is one of the slowest mpeg1 encoders and quality of output is not good when compared to TMPGenc. I suggest you give EazyVCD a try and compare results (both total time and quality), you might be in for a surprise.

and of course you can frameserve to Tmpgenc from DVDx aswell to see the difference in quality and speed between Tmpgenc and Panasonic.

Does EasyVCD creates highest quality picture (includes subtitles) and sound (includes Dolby surround sound)?
And why ChickenMans tutorial "How to convert DVD to VCD with or without Sub-Titles" suggest to use Panasonic mpeg1 plugin?
Chickenman i think is better on step 4.d to use: Change Color Tone Correction to PC (not to TV)

Of course i can use frameserve to Tmpeg from DVDX and i wonder if there is a way to use CCE from DVDX?

Ok I think I have it!
I can use frame serve to Tmpeg from DVDX and exactly the same way I can use frameserve to CCE from DVDX.
Using on DVDX – Output setting – Premiere plug-in encoder – Video Server that gives me a small avi! This avi can I import to CCE and that’s all!
That means: With DVDX you can have the best results for mpeg1 (with Panasonic or Tmpeg) and for mpeg2 (with CCE) in a few steps. All in one!
But I ´ill wait ChickenMans estimate!
I found this too (it works to me): QTReader.vfp - This is a plugin QuickTime reader for the TMPGEnc mpeg encoder. You just copy this file into
TMPGEnc's folder and you should then be able to read
any QuickTime movie.

Ye EazyVCD does produce high quality VCD (and now Xvcd) but NOT with subtitles, Yes Sound is Dolby downmix as well.

Tut on Sub-title was written before DVDx was written and gives the best you could get with Subtitles, not the best overall.

QTReader, no it will not convert all Quicktime movies. This has been posted here many many times, suggest you use the Search button to find out more on its capabilities.

There is a new version: Panasonic mpeg2&1 standalone and plug-in.
May be better that the old one.

Again I'm aware of the new version but is limited to do any decent testing with it. As a MPEG2 encoder its like its older brother, very slow indead.

stop complaining, i use tempgenc for everything and it works for me, i havent ripped a dvd yet but i love turning .movs and .qt into avis then into dvds (mpeg2) the quality of a video is dvd quality when the bit rate is at 8000 kb per second and is an actual rival to sky digital!!!
