Not being able to burn at max speed with nero

Okay here is my info:
Nero 5.5.7.2
CD burner - acer 4x4x32 model # 4432A-002, firware version 3.LR
operating system - Win 2K

Here is the prob, when I go to burn, it only gives me the option to burn CD's at 2X, my burner is 4x Capable, when I go to "choose recorder" the info also says that my burner is only 2x capable.

Anyone have any info on what I can do/what I need to do.

I once had a problem like that. It was because of the cd inserted in the CDR drive. The software, nero, recognized the maximum recording speed of the cd (that was only 2x) and the maximum speed showed of the recorder was 2x.
It was with a cdrw.

Simple question for ya mate is it a registered version you are running???

Cos some software restricts burning speed until software is registered.
