Norton Ghost 2002. incomplete ?

I've d/loaded Ghost 2002, but it seems to be incomplete, in that you can't install the program.
You can use the windows part but when you come to make the boot disks to use for disaster recovery, you can't because the program isn't installed.
Anybody shine a light on what's the matter, or am I missing something ?
Cheers
Chris.

mrbingley,

Some of the stuff cdrsoft putsup is a bit... ghost was one of them...

I actually bought the proggie, then found out that after removing the flash tutorials (self contained .exes..) with winiso, the resulting image file was just over 10 megs, very respectable..

So, here you go..

3 zips, extract then click on .bat file to reunite 3 parts, use your burner to burn .iso back to CD. ' Proper ' install of Ghost 2002.

Originally bought in Ireland, Oct. 2001.

Backing up 2 gigs of windoze to 3 CD's takes just under half an hour, the 3 cd's cost lest than a floppy!, go figure....

restoring with a plex takes just over 20 minutes or so... a joy to use..

take note of the serial at the splash screen, you'll need that when burning or restoring an image. Good luck.. >>X<<

Re: Ghost ISO

Thanks a lot for links.I finished downloading the zip files now I will see what I can do with it.
By the way, is it possible to also download a link for the tutorials?
Thanks again.

Strahlen, forgive me for my ignorance. After I unziped all 3 files and run the iso.bat to combine. I seemed lost with your instruction right there. Would you show me how to make an exe file to run.

Thanks.

To Hitekfreak

This is not Strahlen but I'll save him the trouble.

1) unzip all files into one folder
2) double click the .bat file named NGHOST2002EDIT.ISO
3) this should produce a 13mb ISO file
4) Use ISOBuster,Winimage,or WinISO to exract the file or
5) burn the ISO image to you CD
6)This should do it.

Sound.. :D thanks..

hitek, I posted an ' image ' of a CD, to be burned back to a blank CDR, the tidiest way to deal with what I've posted, an ' .iso ' is a kind of standard, that more than one CD burning software uses.. by the way, surf the net or look at Symantec's site for info on Ghost, there's more than enough stuff online to get you started, Ghost 2002 is probably THE most stable HD utility around for people either dabbling with windows and wanting to do an ' autopilot ' or the expert that likes to dabble with an endless command line stuffed full of switches..

I would consider this the 1st. piece of software you should use after setting up a new computer, pity more don't use it. Anyhoo, enjoy.. I doubt the stuff will last much longer on Geocities, so, grab it while yer can.. unless someone mirrors it..

Will probably post the flash tutorial on burning to a CDR.. but you'd want to be wearing feathers and laying eggs not to understand..

You may not need it on this one. Try it first and please post your result back to this forum.

Wildaces, here's the ' How to burn out to your CD-RW ' Flash tutorial.

It's about 6 megs, in two parts, zipped and split, exactly in the same way as the .iso itself..

Download all parts, unzip to a folder, click on .bat file.

Part 1 - DEAD LINK :0
Part 2 - DEAD LINK :0

I will not be posting any of the other tutorials, unless someone has a special need for it.. this should do for most people starting out.

Enjoy. >>X<< :cool::eek: :confused:

Thanks for that iso Strahlen....

I was looking for the home version of that as I could only get the coporate version which seems a bit like overkill for the sake of burning a backup.

Cheers again
