Please can u help

I have a Nokia 3510i , I have ring tones and ive got a data cable (serial port) I believe I need a prog to be able to download ring tones/games via the cable.
How do I know ive got the right data cable ?
Reading the comments about unlocking , needing this and that Im totally confused.
I am very green and have not much experience please make it easy for me.

Also if you pop on to Logomanager site they have many program's and links to such apps. Mainly for Nokia's but the links to other makes... Motorola, Sony etc

btw you dont need datacable to unlock it you can get a number via a program that uses your imei number but ive never found a working version
