Newbie here, Are PS2 DVDR's Copyprotected?

Ok so I just bought a Sony Dru510-A and want to backup some of my original PS2 DVD-R games.
I read Pauls tutorial using the RecordNow Max Software (which my burner came with)
So what about the copyright protection on the PS2 games?
Will Recordnowmax software work or should I use DVD Decrypter?

I did a search for this and couldn't find any info
FYI I'm using Messiah 2 modchip.
Thanks

I have not seen any DVD based PS2 game copyright yet.

Copy them with DVDDecrypter. I've had no problems yet.

Considering I know for a fact that RecordNow Max doesn't allow you to copy anything protected I would say no. Also I know nothing about ps2 copying I would say if psx paul said I believe it and he wrote a PS2 DVD Backup Tutorial for DVD Decrypter. :D

I would guess that they are REGION PROTECTED and boot PROTECTED the same as PSX/psone as you can still not boot a dvd copy of a game without either a) a MODCHIP or b) A boot device such as a plugin cart or bootdisk !!

I think Sony would be foolish to not of included this sort of protection as that would make it all to easy to get ripped off !!!

Btw i know this much its FACT that EA SPORTS/GAMES protect all their titles!

Also Sony are currently testing the new FADE protection scheme with PS2 titles ! :)

Over to You psx_paul buddy ;)

Use your Sony with RecordNow Max burning software (or DVD Decrypter or any other burning programs). Your Messiah2 will boot your backups with no problems :)

The FADE protection only comes into play with DVD based games that have been ripped to CD-R. At various stages of the game things will start to go all funny  When I played around with rip-kits I found this on a couple of games. One of them was World Snooker Championship 2002 (I think that was the title), once the first frame had been completed during the second frame all shots would be played in super-slow motion, and were played like the cue was a 9 iron and loft the ball off the table. Stick to DVD>DVD-/+R backups and this protection will not affect you :)

I have the same burner, and I have record now.All I do is open record now and click on make exact copy of disk. I have not had one problem with this method, and all backups work fine, cd-r and dvd-r

What speed do you burn it at aggtam??

PS2king,

I myself burn them at 4X without any problems so far!!!

BUT

I use Ritek G04 DVD-R's with purple die ;)

Ciao,

I must apologize...I did not know you were refering to CD Based games.
I, on the other hand, was refering to DVD based games

Let me start over then:
I burn DVD based games @ 4X (Ritek G04)
and
I burn CD based games @ 24X (Costco TDK CD's)

I have not had any problems soo far.

Regards,
