new to ps2 backup -please help

sorry if this is in the wrong place...
im new to this message board stuff..and i dont even have a playstation 2 YET because im trying to figure out how to make backups and how to mod my ps2 before i get it. or can i get one already modified ? I DONT KNOW!!! :(
i know i should look around the site more because my questions probably already have answeres..but im lazy so could someone please get me started with some kind of info. i have nero and saw something posted about making copies with that ..? also if i want to clean the laser should i just blow compressed air on it from the side, not top ,then use a cue-tip?! oohhh im confussed ! lol :confused:

its a no solder mod chip with a swap magic disk

could i just buy this then figure out how to make the backups ? or is there a site that sells back-ups ?

They dont really work that great look into a fliptop box if you dont want to put a chip in your box ;) i just got 2 and am really happy with it :D

I have a flip-top with magic disk , this works fine for me, if you hunt around im sure you will find retailers that sell the PS2 with mods fitted.

i looked around a little on yahoo auctions..they only have 2 and they are about 300.00 bucks..i cant really afored that..i need to look around some more...im in california , los angeles. guess i'll look around for a flip top and magic swap , how much does that usually cost ?

more questions

why do premodded and mod chips cost so much more ?

will the flip top work well ? whats the difference between a flip top and slide card ? the ones i found cost about 30.00 ..thats all i need to play backups ?

will i be able to make backups with nero ? cause thats all i have right now...

do modchips and premods cost more because flip tops damage/ruin your ps2 ?! thats what i read on a different post... :eek: :(

my dad can solder...will it be very difficult for him to install it ? does it take long ,what other tools will be needed ? come with instructions ?

nevermind about the backing up questions, i understand it now.

one more thing, about cleaning the laser? how can i do that ?

sorry if im bugging :D

Thanks psx_paul for that site. I'm seriously considering that. I did the flip-top mod and it works good, but it is so damn annoying. I'm starting to buy more imports and such now a days too, so it may be worth it. Doesn't seem like a lot of money either, they get the chip and do the installation. Seems like a deal to me.
