new 1.33 firmware and some dvds won't run

I updated the firmware on my OEM Pioneer 105 and it burns great but when I tried a regular region 1 dvd it said that I needed to have a region 1 dvd drive. It seems that at least some dvds ar5e somehow coded not to run on region free firmware.

Am I missing something?

The official firmware 1.33 will give you the problems as above, you need the hacked 1.33 firmware. Check out http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org/ for the correct firmware.
