networking computers....

i have two computers that are connected to the internet....i wanna know how do i access the other computer while im on my computer....i would like to access the other computer getting files and viewing it so i dont have to take out the hd and put it in mines....would i be able to control the other computer from my computer??..if you guys have any tutorials it would be helpful....both of the computers r on win xp pro sp2....linksys cable modem befcmu10 v3 and linksys router befsr41 v3....
 
click on your desktop and hit F1; type in "Remote Desktop" and read;
as always with Windows, it's one security risk more;

Another good (and free) solution is TightVNC, which even allows you piping the connection through secure shell (although you need to work a bit on the "howto"). The good thing about a VNC client/server solution is that the client is a single small (~ 250K) executable with little demands on horsepower, and can be launched even from a floppy or pen drive without installation.
 
If you already have XP, Remote Desktop is built in. And you can get to it from anywhere by booting a free Knoppix Linux CD and running rdesktop to connect to it. Can also use putty to tunnel it, but you need to setup a SSH server to do that - that is a lot of work that is unnecessary if you are not being blocked by a firewall...
