Nero CD-Speed Disc Info Problem

Hi ALL,

I was just wondering about this Disc Info. Option under the Extra menu. Whenever I goto it, I get no information. The screen comes up, and it has the copy and exit buttons at the bottom. But next to all the information Manufact, Code, Disc Type, etc. I just get a "-" and nothing else. I know that CD-ROMs cannot read the ATIP information, but CDR/RWs can. I have a Ricoh 7200A CDR/RW drive. I don't understand why it does not display any information. I have tried using Burnatonce, a free burning program, that also has the disc. info. function, and using it I am able to get the information I need. "Alcohol 120%" software also works to read the info. However, I much rather prefer Nero & CD Speed. So if there is something I am doing wrong please let me know. I am using CD Speed version 1.02 and Nero version 5.5.10.15a (the latest). I also am using Windows XP Pro. with no ASPI layer installed, but Nero installs its own "WNASPI32.DLL" with version 2.0.1.59, so I believe that is fine, since CD Speed is already attached with Nero. Is there something else I have to install or uninstall to get it working? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

sorry, i have no idea what's wrong on your machine; maybe your Alcohol's filter driver blocks the info, so that CD Speed can't read it;

same Nero/CD Speed version on my W2kSP3, no Adaptec ASPI, but ASAPI (WaveLab) installed:

Hi SuperG.Just out of curiosity, do U have the Ignore media option checked in Alcohol.Think this might cause nero cdspeed 2 think there is no media in drive,Try unchecking that option in the Emulation setting in Alcohol

Just like Duracell says.Try then post back

Thanks All,

I didn't realize that Alcohol would affect my programs even when it was NOT running, but I guess it does. But I did what you guys said, and now it works like a charm. Thanks so much.

Ps. That option is 2 fool Ur burner or copy protection in 2 thinking it is being run in a CD-ROM.U might need 2 check it again if U find some backups dont work.It like CloneCd's Hide Cdr Media option
