Nero 5.5.10 - 5.5. loads in background

Greetings...


i have recentrly downloaded Nero 5.5.10 yet when i tried to start it it seemed to work only in the background as a process...No indication of working on the foreground (window, gui)...

I unistalled it and used the bundled-with-my-PLextor Nero 5.5...
unfortunately, the same all over again...

What can possibly be wrong... ??

Nero can't pop up, when the initialization between Nero and your writer failed; Nero using his own ASPI (WnASPI32.ddl);

more details please;
What OS?
What other burning soft besides Nero?
Did you install a seperate ASPI layer (Nero didn't need it)?
WinDVD or PowerDVD?
What type is your IDE-Controller? try to install the latest official IDE Busmaster driver (chipset drivers);
Any paket writing software (InCD, DirectCD) installed?
What version of M$ MediaPlayer do you use? Inclusive the crapy burning engine?
RealPlayer (plus) inclusive crapy burning engine?
Musicmatch JukeBox inclusive crapy burning engine?
(if XP) Did you disabled IMAPI burning engine?

i have w2k installed.....
No other burning software ...
ASPI layer: Adaptec 4.60...
Neither WinDVD nor PowerDVD installed...
WMP version: 6.4....(classic..)
No Real player installed..
No MiscMatch Jukebox...


IMAPI engine.....Does that have any effect under win2000...?sometimes when i try to re-execute Nero it alerts: The IMAPI engine is in use by another application....

Any other app for burning that supports Plextor 24/10/40A?
I have tried Easy(!?!?) CD Creator 5 Platinux but it managed to mess up my computer and i formatted..So, anything else apart the above mentioned???

yupp, M$ Windows IMAPI isn't existing in Win2000;

and what about this:
What type is your IDE-Controller? try to install the latest official IDE Busmaster driver (chipset drivers);
Any paket writing software (InCD, DirectCD) installed?

several peoples recommend "Record Now Max" and "NTI CD Maker" as good and stable burning software;

i found out what was going wrong...

i have a key disk (usb 1.1.) which somehow when was up and running was causing this whole Nero inconvinience!

When i decided to unplug it from the system tray Nero worked fine...

Anyway, thank you all for your posts....
