I couldn´t run this game in my system with a Geforce2 card, installation was ok and the game started but when "race" was selected it closed down and got me back to desktop later did a small update to the hardware (changed mobo, cpu and ram, the vga card was the same) and the problem went away, my guess is that it has to do something with the chipset, in my older mobo had a VIA chipset and the replacement has INTEL.

Take FortiTude´s advice and also install the latest chipset drivers, if that doesn´t help see if your game runs in a friend´s pc.
