Movie plays fast speed

Have converted AVI movie file using DVD2SVCD (Used Chiken Man's Converting DIVX to DVD tutorial) and the movie converted OK apart from one problem. When I play the the movie file through WinDVD4 the film and sound plays at double speed. Can anyone please suggest what the problem may be and how to resolve it. Is it something I haven't selected when converting the file with DVD2SVCD or is it a problem with the AVI file. The AVI file played at normal speed and audio before I converted the file.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What are the specs of the AVI?
Video codec? Audio codec? Resolution? Framerate?
When looking at the properties - no summary is displayed. In the details file it has the following:

Audio format: MPEG Layer-3,56 kBit/s, 24,000 Hz, Stereo

Video format: 352 x 240, 24 Bits, 80158 Frames, 14.985 Frames/Sec, 75 KB/Sec, XVID

Yeah, looks like a VCD re-encode where they have decimated the framerate by 2 and done a similar thing to the audio.

My suggestion would be that you get the original VCD release.

I guess DVD2SVCD is just using assumefps(29.976) in AVISynth which just speeds the file up by 2. Try changefps(29.976) or converfps(29.976) instead.

i've been encoding dvds to divx for awhile now and I'm pretty sure the audio has to be in 48khz. I just leave the frame rate at autodetect.

Give this a try for your specs

Video: 352x240 at autodetected FPS
Audio: Mpeg Layer-3, 56kbps 48khz Stereo

hope that works....if not just play with the audio settings :D
