.mov convert

Hi guys
I recently bought a kodak dx 6440 digital camera witch will record a short movie but the movie is in .mov form. I thought that the software from kodak was doing this until I u/l ed pics without quicktime installed hoping that the format would be in .jpg/.avi or anything that windows media player could play. But not the case they were in .mov anyway.
So here's the ? how can I convert this .mov to something that media player can play? I have a web site that won't display the .mov right and I don't what to force my visiters to install "Apples" Quicktime to view these files.

Any Advice will be great
could it be as simple as SAVE AS filename.avi ?

you can use SMARTVID this will convert mov to avi

SmartVid Video File Convertor

Codec-independent bi-directional video file converter for Microsoft's Video for Windows AVI format and Apple's QuickTime MOV format. Supports 8-bit and 16-bit sample sizes and all audio formats.
note its a command line program but this is how to do it ...

Usage:

smartvid /p original.avi destination.mov
smartvid /p original.mov destination.avi

Notes:
This is a DOS program. You need to run it from a DOS prompt (command line).

once you get it as an AVI then its much easier to convert to loads of different formats with our tutorials :)

Another option would be the Rad Game Tools.

However, it still needs Quicktime installed to read and convert the video.
Same as if you had a Real video and wanted to convert it.
But thats where Real/Quick alternative comes in.

Grab that, and you can play Quicktime files. And thus, convert them.

I haven't yet searched for SmartVid.
But I remember in one of my searches before, that all the programs that could convert real and/or quicktime, all needed the codecs installed before they could do anything. Just a thought.
