more help pls... burning mpegs and stuff

hi peeps very greatfull as usual for your help!!!
cut a long story short i know how to burn avi to mpeg then to dvd using virtualDUB and tmpgenc. i have got a film, it plays fine in avi, but when i converted it to mpeg it sort of jutters? u know like slow motion??? any ideas? is there a patch or somthing i can get?

What was the original framerate of the AVI and what did you encode it to?
ie. Simply taking a 25fps avi and outputting a 29.97fps mpg with TMPGEnc will result in poor motion, etc.

its 23 r/p/s can i change the way its burned using tmpgenc? if so how?

The way it is burned?? For a 23.976 you would encode at 23.976fps with 3:2 pulldown enabled so that it playsback at 29.97fps and author as NTSC before burning.
