Microsoft “Object Type” Vulnerability

An exploit exists for an Internet Explorer vulnerability for which no patch exists, according to a story from http://www.silicon.com/news/500013-500001/1/6192.html?nl=d20030930.

The "Object Type" vulnerability, first acknowledged by Microsoft in August this year, can allow malicious code embedded in a web page to take control of a user PC. The avoidance procedure is to disable Active-X controls in IE until a patch is available.

Hardly surprising (activeX controls are highly succeptible to all sorts of exploits, as they don't include any sort of security measures), but thanks for the news.
