Mem. allocation Win XP

Can anyone explain what memory allocation is in Win XP pro.
I noted an exclamation ! with yellow marking in device control under hidden devices. Any comment please.
Do alot of video editing cd burning ,I am having jerky videos,
and missing sound ,but video quality is unchanged.
Any help appreciated.

Ideally u should aim to have a minimum of 258 MB of Ram.

windows went through some good improvements in the xp kernel - when it comes to memory management - but im not going to explain it here because i found an article that would explain it 'a lot' better than i would :)

the yellow ! marker means there could be a problem with the device it highlights. You should try to see if its a problem with drivers or interupts, try to get the most updated drivers for your hardware if you are experiencing problems.

You could also post any video editing problems in our DVD/Movies section - im sure one of our experts would beable to help you :)

wanton, 512mb RAM is the sweet spot for a home editing system running WinXP. But if you are a doing any kind of Professional video editing, 1 Gig of RAM will significantly speed up those render times!
