Hi jasonn
Have U tried Uninstalling WMP 9 & reinstalling it.Or using the system restore function 2 backtrack 2 just before U installed Dx9
I think the only way 2 remove WMP 9 is system restore
But wait a short while & other will help U out, but i think U might have 2 Reinstall WMP & that should fix any files that were overwritten

Ps 2 save U d/l the player again, look in Program files\Windows Media Player\ & look 4 a file called setup_wm.exe.Run this & it should install itself again

DirectX 9... the only thing I want to remember about it is that it does not exist.
It killed my midi port completely, and even after using the (unofficial) uninstaller and going back to 8.1 the midi signal was coming to the soundcard with a huge lag (in fact the Cubase diagnostics reported that all sound packets sent were way out of sync...). I had to put my Ghost CD's out of the closet to get back to a respectable system.
