liteon probs

i have a liteon ldw 451s dvd burner but since ive updated to the latest firmware i keep getting an error come up "cyclic redundancy check error". this seems to be only on my backed up stuff. also it seems to be taking an age to read backed up discs.....
a. can i reurn to its original firmware (if i can find it)
b. if its not firmware can anyone shed any light on my prob please thanx

it can be a firmware problem, don't know if the step back is possible with LiteOn's;
but it could be "the classic media problem" too; try to look for by LiteOn recommended media;

crc errors imho is related to discs being unreadable due to scratch or the optical's lens gettin very faulty...
did u try reading ur backup in other drives,could b also zat ur backups might have gotten somewat damaged when u read them in ur liteon updated drive
