So if you have to recommend some goodies on cdr,audio,web...ect, post !
(ex. Poko which is the "EAC" for Linux? :) )

Thanks for your links ! and suggestions ..
I will try to help here as much as I can ..
but my main usage of Linux is for server stuff, not desktop usage ..

what's the best ogg/mp3/audio cd player for linux? I use one or two progs supplied with mandrake, they are pain in the ass, totally uncomfortable. that apart from the fact that my sb128 pci is not recognised properly by mandrake and music sounds like shit.

Hello,
IMHO is the best player is XMMS h**p://www.xmms.org. XMMS is something like Winamp, supports skins for Winamp, and has a lot of plugins...

Wolf

gaim - aim icq msn yahoo messengers (use the plugins)
mplayer - most movie formats supported including divx
xine - plays dvds quite well
gimp - photoshop/painshop like program
xmms - like winamp plays all your audio
cd bake oven - cd burning
grip - cd ripping with lame support
open office/star office - ms office replacement
mosfets liquid - bad ass kde3 visual style
ximian - gnome theme/package add on
gkrellm - system wide monitor
gnutella - file sharing

links for mandrake/linux

pclinuxonline.com
kdelook.org
plf.org <~ I think
rpmfind.net

you are right, stupid me, it's included in mandrake, I overlooked it. very nice player for audio, but doesn't work well for mpeg movies.

One thing I wonder about, is it possible to play avis encoded with MS mpeg 4 codec on linux? I guess the only possibility is to change the header of the file from MS to divx and then use the divx codec for linux, but there are some differences between MS mpeg4 and divx and sometimes parts of the movies are not decoded correctly, if I use divx instead of mpeg4 for a MS mpeg4 encoded movie
