I recall a mention of HP releasing one - can't say I'm hugely impressed though...

1. Requires a lightscribe equipped drive
2. Requires lightscribe media
3. Monochromatic

You can now get affordable CD Printers, and Inkjet printable media is widely available - Lightscribe is a second-rate solution, that's arrived too late and will no doubt require EXPENSIVE media that will need some searching to actually find.

- I like this one from their FAQ's
How long does it take to burn a LightScribe label?
A typical title-only label will print in approximately 2 minutes. A typical full label, with complex graphics, may take up to 20 minutes to print.

TWENTY MINUTES! - and how long would it take an Inkjet printer to do FULL COLOUR.

The ONLY way Lightscribe stands a chance, is if the underlying drive is good enough that you'd choose it anyway, and priced similarly.
The same goes for the media.
