Joytech JS-112 Can't bind keys

Having recently gotten back in to 3d space-sim games (and my trusty Topgun Fox 2 pro has decided that steering right is out of the question), I brought my Joytech JS-112 (Joytech USB Neo S) out of retirement.

There is a strange problem I've run in to. I can't rebind any buttons to keys (when I try, it deletes the current key and won't let any new ones be set)

So does anyone know what might be causing this and how to correct it? Or is there a way to hack the config files to force a configuration (several hours of reverse engineering is the last thing I want to do at the moment but I may resort to it)

My setup is Windows XP (sp2)
A Joytech JS-112 (obviously)
Using the front USB ports of a Lian-Li PC65-B case connected to the jumpers of an Asus P4C800 Deluxe MB

Please, please, please can someone help? :(
